Telluride Bluegrass Festival 2016!

BackStage1

From VisitTelluride.com:

The Town Park campground and the high school soccer fields have transformed into a sea of colorful tents.  The sidewalks are bustling with people and Main Street benches are full of people soaking in the sun. The gentle breeze carries notes of music through the air.

These are all signs that the Telluride Bluegrass Festival is here. This year marks the 43rd anniversary. The festival is built around the many artists that have defined the Telluride Bluegrass sound, as the weekend is sprinkled with inspired sets from Peter Rowan, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile, Tim O’Brien, and of course the “King of Telluride” Sam Bush. Check out the complete line-up.

Bluegrass attracts ten thousand people who want to soak up some great music in one of the most spectacular venues in Colorado. However, there are some other great aspects to Bluegrass you might not be aware of:

  • Even if you don’t have a pass, you can still enjoy part of the Festival with free concerts and demonstrations in Elks Park. The up and coming artists that play in this intimate venue are amazing.
  • With a great kids tent that features arts and crafts, hula hoop making and fun performances, Bluegrass is a family affair.
  • You can dine around the world in the festival.  There is a wide variety of food booths serving up delicious fare- Indian, Greek, Italian, good ole’ American flank steak and corn, Mexican and a lot more. Don’t forget the ice cream and coffee for dessert.
  • The people watching is amazing. Folks attending the Bluegrass Festival are there to have a good time and it shows.
  • Surprisingly the Bluegrass Festival offers some excellent retail therapy. From jewelry to outdoor clothing to fairy wings for kids to casual ladies attire, the merchant booths at the festival offer something for everyone.

See you at the Park. It’s time to get my Bluegrass on.
